There is no shortage of things to do in Halton this weekend and here are eight options.
Oakville
1. Residents are invited to attend a silent disco that will feature the music of Taylor Swift on Saturday, March 9. The event is in Oakville Towne Square from 6 to 10 p.m. Attendees will slip on headphones and dance themselves silly to Taylor Swift’s popular songs. Tickets are $5 per person.Â
2. Bubbies Boys Comedy Show is on Saturday, March 9 at the King’s Arms. The event starts at 8 p.m. and features the comedic stylings of Ariel Kagan and Brandon (Brando) Sobel. Rooted in South African and southwestern Hamiltonian cultures, their performances are said to be a delightful blend of cultural influences, wit, and a generous dose of Jewish humour. Tickets are $20. Seating is limited.Â
Burlington
3. (Sorry, this event was cancelled by orginizers). The Burlington Winter Beer Festival returns on Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9 at the Burlington Holiday Inn and Conference Centre. A variety of brewers from across the province are showcasing their finest offerings. Open to all individuals 19 years of age and older. The event runs from 4 to 11 p.m. on Friday and from 3 to 10 p.m. on Saturday. General admission is $20 or $25 at the door. 4. Those looking to hear some great music are invited to attend a performance by Stephanie Chou at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre on Friday, March 8. Chou is an American jazz composer/saxophonist/singer who blends influences from her Chinese heritage with western jazz and pop to create a bracingly original sound that draws audiences on two continents. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. Regular ticket price is $49.50.Â

5. A Milton Gun & Outdoors Show is at Country Heritage Park on Sunday, March 10. The event is from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for enthusiasts interested in all things related to firearms, hunting, archery, and fishing. Hunting, shooting, and fishing vendors will be present with products to sell and show off. Admission is $10. Individuals 13 and under can enter for free with an adult. 6. A Family Paint Party is at Shoeless Joe’s on Saturday, March 9. The event begins at 2 p.m. and will give attendees the opportunity to paint their own masterpieces. All supplies needed to create a 16 x 20-inch painting will be provided. No experience is necessary and beginners are welcome.
Halton Hills
7. North Star 90 is playing at the Appalachian Pub in Georgetown Friday, March 8 from 9 p.m. to midnight. The band is playing 90s rock/pop favourites, including hits by Foos, STP, Green Day, The Hip, 5440 and more.Â
8. Acton’s Knox Presbyterian Church is holding its Communion & Annual Congregational Meeting on Sunday, March 10. Church service is at 10:30 a.m. followed by the meeting. Rev. Stephen Mutavdzija will lead worship and celebrate communion.
