Ford plant accepting applications

Business is looking up at Ford.

The auto giant is now accepting applications in an effort to fill most of 500 new jobs at the Oakville Assembly Complex.

No previous experience required for the majority of the positions.

"We're adding a shift to the final assembly line, where all the pieces come together in the main part of the plant," said Lauren More, Ford spokesperson.

The need for more workers is being attributed to the heating up of the crossover vehicle market, which has placed Oakville on the front lines for meeting this new demand as the facility manufactures the hot-selling Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX crossovers.

The summer will also see the Oakville plant produce the all new Ford Flex full-size crossover.

Those interested in applying can go to www.JobBank.gc.ca and look for advertisement #3641570, or visit a Service Canada office in Peel Region, Halton Region or the Region of Hamilton-Wentworth. The deadline for applications is May 1.

The new jobs are to be phased-in at the Oakville plant beginning in late July.
