Published on Apr 11, 2008

Susan Bellan, the founder of Breaking Bread for Women, will be the guest speaker at the April 15 Company of Women dinner at the Oakville Conference and Banquet Centre.

Bellan formed her volunteer organization, which raises money through informal potluck dinners, in 2002. The fundraising dinners have raised close to $800,000 to support the salaries of Afghan teachers.

Bellan is also the author of Small Business and the Big Banks: The small business owner's book about dealing with banks in good times -- and bad. She is also a frequent guest on CBC Radio's Metro Morning and well-known spokesperson for the small business community. She has owned her own store, Timbuktu, since 1979.

Company of Women is an organization that supports, connects and promotes women in business.

The evening starts with a mini home and garden trade show at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner, then Bellan's address. You don't have to be a member to attend.

The cost for the evening is $55 plus GST. You can register online at www.companyofwomen.ca and VISA or Mastercard is accepted. For more information, contact Anne Day at 905-338-1771.
