Led by the dominance of Marni Oldershaw, the Oakville Aquatic Club (OAK) swam to a second-place overall finish at the Aquatrainer Jr. and SWAD Long-Course Provincial Championships in Nepean.
Oldershaw earned gold in all the races she entered, winning six individual gold and four relay gold. The 12-year-old also set or helped set new club records in all 10 events.
Mika Spencer, Bridget Jordan and Annie Harrison joined Oldershaw to break Canadian records in both the 4x50-metre and 4x100m medley relays for girls age 11-12. Along with Holly Olsen, OAK's 12-year-old girls now own four Canadian medley records, having recently set two national short-course standards.
In total, OAK won 60 medals (30 gold, 15 silver and 15 bronze) at the meet, and set 25 club records. Forty-two of the club's swimmers competed at provincials, with 35 of them posting at least one top-8 finish.
Other individual gold-winners included Mack Darragh (four), Curtis Samuel, Mitchell Gour and Spencer (three each), and Tera Van Beilen, Zack Chetrat and Brody Dyson (one apiece).
Part of relay-winning teams were Evan White, Connor Wilkins, Mackenzie Martyn, Mack Darragh, Jack Cavanagh, Kent Kikot, Reid Scarrow, Gour, Harrison, Oldershaw, Jordan and Spencer.
A total of 74 teams competed in the four-day competition at the 50m Nepean Sportsplex pool. Etobicoke won the meet with 1,485 points, followed by OAK (888) and Toronto (811).
