FOR THE ARTS: Britta Martini-Miles, executive director of CommUnity Arts Space, presents Oakville Mayor Rob Burton with gifts at a recent advocacy night at Towne Square Gallery. CommUnity Arts Space, which consists of dozens of local arts groups, is pushing the Town for the renovation of the entire 140,000-sq.-ft. Queen Elizabeth Park site, so it can serve as a multipurpose community facility.

JUST Christmas featured more than a dozen vendors representing artisan groups from around the world, including Ten Thousand Villages and Faces of Fair Trade. Fair Trade is a form of commerce that ensures an equitable and fair partnership between marketers in North America and producers in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and other parts of the world. Fair trade partnership works to provide low-income artisans and farmers with a living wage for their work. 221979 Chamber orchestra strikes silver with Bach concertos BACH FOR ANOTHER SEASON: The Oakville Chamber Orchestra rehearses on Sunday under conductor Charles Demuynck for the first concerts of its 25th anniversary season. It is an a cappella, male barbershop chorus whose 30 active members come from Halton, Peel and Hamilton. The main charity supported by the group is H4S, the Harmonize for Speech fund, which supports children, as well as others, with speech impairments. The Entertainers meet regularly on Monday evenings from 7 to 9:30 p. m. at Kinark Family Services, 475 Iroquois Shore Rd.
