STAR GAZING WHAT'S OUT THERE?: Steve Germann shows Corey Houston, 6, how to work a telescope. The Hamilton Amateur Astronomers held a public astronomy night at the Burloak Waterfront Park last Saturday. The demonstration began at twilight as the amateur astronomers demonstrated their equipment to visitors. As it became dark around 9:30 p.m., they began training that equipment on some of the brighter evening objects such as the moon and Jupiter. When it became fully dark, they took a look at some of the dimmer objects such as star clusters and nebulas to provide variety for the audience.

ITALY CUP CHAMPS DOMINANT SHOWING: The Oakville Raiders under-14 boys' soccer team won the championship in dominant fashion at a recent international tournament in Italy. The Raiders defeated squads from the host country, France, Denmark and Canada by a combined score of 20-1 to reach the final, where Oakville blanked a Greek squad 2-0.
