Caldwell, Hilton Squires P.Eng. (Electrical)- Lt. Col. Retired (Militia). Died peacefully Friday July 18, 2008 at 86. Loving husband of Marianne (nee Marion Rourke). Dear father of Elaine Giles, Paul (Antonietta) and Sheila McKerrow (Andrew). Loving grandfather of Heather, Ian, Katherine, Isla, Madeleine, Emma, Sophia and Luke. Will be sadly missed by his brother Allan and his wife Anne and brother in law Malcolm Rourke and his wife Patience. Hilton was born in Florenceville, New Brunswick where he attended school there and in St. John, New Brunswick. He joined the RCAF as a radar mechanic in 1940 and was deployed to Great Britain from 1941-1945 in the RAF. Returning to Canada, Hilton attended the University of New Brunswick and was employed by Bell Canada for 31 years. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family. DAVID ROLAND McKAY May 2, 1939 - July 16, 2008 Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and having emigrated to Canada in 1966, David spent his entire career at Metro Works in Toronto. Dearly missed by wife Ruth and sister Marie (Danny and nephews Paul, Peter and Mike). Loved by his children David (Caryn), James (Carrie), Kelly (Hamish), Ryan (Ashly); dearly missed by stepchildren Ken (Laurie), Kim (Gord) and Kris (Dawn); and adored by his twelve grandchildren. Many thanks to the friends and loved ones who supported David through his three-year battle with cancer. A special thanks to the staff at Joseph Brant Hospital and the Carpenter Hospice in Burlington for the gentle care and compassion provided during his final days with us. David's playful spirit will be missed by everyone he touched. A brief visitation, followed by a celebration of his life will be held in his memory at Appleby United Church, at 10:00 a.m. (Service at 11:00 am) on Monday, July 21, 2008; reception to follow in the church hall. MARSHALL, Anne Louise- Anne, (68) died peacefully at home in Oakville on Friday July 18, 2008 from cancer (mesothelioma). She was born in Nipigon, Ontario, the eldest of four children, and is survived by husband David, her sisters Jessie and Ruth, her children Karen and Jason and grandchildren, Kaitlin and Gavin. Anne will be greatly missed by a wide circle of devoted friends, who loved her for her kindness, thoughtfulness, and a readiness to extend a helping and to those in need, and we are all better for having know her. Anne retired from Ontario Hydro in 1990 and worked most recently with Acclaim Health (formerly VON) in their Seniors Day Program at Sheridan College where she has a wonderful empathy for the clients, caregivers and co-workers. She was a avid golfer at Wyldewood Golf Club, and a regular exerciser a Glen Abbey Recreation Centre. Anne donated her body to the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College for teaching and research. Our grateful thanks go to Dr. Khan, the staff of CCAC, Acclaim Health, Community Rehab and Comcare, Dr. Rother and staff at the Credit Valley Hospital Oncology Centre, and many others who helped us in our time of need. A Memorial Service and Reception to celebrate her life will be held at St. Paul's United Church, 454 Rebecca Street, Oakville, on Thursday August 7th at 3pm. MATTIE, Elmer I.- Died after a lengthy illness at Creekway Long Term Care Centre, Burlington on Monday, July 21, 2008, in his 90th year. Elmer was born in Tracadie Antigonish Co., N.S. and served as Captain with the Canadian Army from 1939-1945. He retired in 1984 from Canron as Comptroller after 40 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Sarah Loretta Mattie (MacLean) after 53 years of marriage. Loving father of Joye and her husband Ernest Gaudet of Digby, N.S., Ron and his wife Susan, Bill and his wife Jan, Cynthia Young and her spouse Réal Gadoury, all of Burlington, Paul and his wife Cindy of Waterdown. Irene was born December 7, 1933 in Brinkman's Corners, Bruce County, Ontario being a daughter of Peter McCormick McNair and (Catherine Elizabeth) (nee Wyonch). Wife of the late Keith McNally. Beloved mother of Cathy (Bob) Matthews; Bob (Cindy) McNally; Pete (Jenny) McNally; Mike (Penny) McNally; Dan McNally and John McNally. Loving grandmother of Jeremy Matthews; Melissa Matthews (Gunness), and Ashley, Adam, David, Katie, Hayden, Kayley, Meagan, Samantha, and Kandice McNally. Great grandmother of Dylan Matthews and Matthew (Gunness). Sisters Kay Shannon of Kamloops, B.C., and Chris McNair of Wiarton, Ontario also survive. Fondly remembered by many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. The family wish to thank the staff of the Hospital for their knowledge, guidance and compassion in assisting with our mother's passing. MONTGOMERY, Dawson (DOC)- Passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 12th in his 86th year. Husband of Dorothy (2001), he will be sadly missed by daughter Beverly Eldridge (Ted) and son Rick (Linda), six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Dad's service in WWII was in the Royal Canadian Navy and most of his time was spent on a minesweeper in the North Atlantic. Dad was then employed for over forty years in the manufacturing division of the Fuller Brush Company in Hamilton, Burlington, Jamaica and in Kansas. He was instrumental in Building the Southern Ontario Rabbit Breeder's Association and introduced the commercial breeding of rabbits to the Jamaican economy. At his request cremation and a private memorial have taken place. Donations may be made to the heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society in his memory. R. Bryan Binns of Beamsville, ON, died July 12, 2008. Memorial Service will be held Thursday, July 17th, 1:15pm at Albright Manor, 5050 Hillside Dr., Beamsville. Bryan was born December 2, 1929 to Gordon and Helen (Bryan) Binns of Newmarket. He is predeceased by his wife Susan K.H. Binns, sister Jean Wells of Oakville, and daughter Katherine Holloway of Milton. He is survived by Katherine's children, by his son Guy Binns, stepson Christopher Howber, and sister Barbara Blake. Bryan worked for Bell Canada from 1948-1967, became an electrician in 1974, he worked for ten years at the Corah plant in Barrie before retiring to follow his wife in ministry in 1984. REA, Loreto- Passed away peacefully and unexpectedly in his cherished home on Monday, July 21st 2008 at the age of 82. Loreto was the beloved husband of Tullia (Margaret), and loving father to Anna (Pat), Liesa (Enzo), Frank, and Tony (Lisa). He was the proudest Nonno to his grandchildren Mathew, Stephanie, Michelle and Thomas. He is survived by his sisters Anna and Raffaelina, as well as, his brother Giuseppe. Loreto was a proud member of UAW Local 707, and the Oakville Italian Club where he enjoyed playing Bocce Ball and being surrounded by his friends. He was also a longtime employee of Ford Motor Company for over 36 years. Loreto was a man of all trades from his avid gardening, to his wine making, and bread baking. He took great pride in all that he did and shared with those around him. Loreto was a very kind and gentle soul who shared a part of his heart with everyone he met, and was never too busy to lend a helping hand to those in need. He was an inspiration to all those who had the great fortune of knowing him. His greatest treasure was his family who admired him for his wisdom and simplicity. Loreto was a true reflection of Godâ??s love and he will be greatly missed by all of his family, relatives, neighbours and friends. SHIRE, Nick Nick passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Milton District Hospital after a lengthy illness. For 45 years, he was the husband and friend of Martha Shire. Father to Lynn (Derek Gilham), Kathy, Rick (Liisa), and Mike. He was the cherished grandpa of Jessie Chesal; Kaitlyn, Sarah, and Rachel Gilham; and Michael Shire. He will be sadly missed by two sisters, Marie Paley and Nellie Hetmanek, and their families. A generous and giving man, Nick was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. Visitation will take place on Friday at J. Scott Early Funeral Home, 21 James St., Milton (905) 878-2669 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. A Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday July 19, 2008.
