A story in The Oakville Beaver, May 23 edition, Southeast Oakville parents plead to keep their schools open, mispelled the name of Heather Kemp speaking for the New Central School Community and misrepresened her position.
Kermp supports the New Central School Council position for the closure of one school, but not both, and backs education director Wayne Joudrie's Option 1 of Halton District School Board report 08058.
The story quoted a statement from her submitted letter, but did not state it as such.
In her address to the trustees, Kemp said, "My name is Heather Kemp and I am a member of the NC School Council and the New Central Park Committee.
"In an effort to move this long evening along the NC School Council has decided not to make a formal presentation.
"We would however, like to draw the Trustee's attention to our letter which we submitted on May 14 and which you will find in your documentation package.
"On behalf of the New Central community, we wish to reiterate our support of PE14, Director's report Option 1, which provides for a JK - 6 school to remain in the west end of Ward 3. The New Central community does not support the closure of both New Central and Brantwood schools.
"We hope the trustees recognize the joint efforts of the PARC committee members; the conclusions, which were reached by the majority of the PARC members, and the final recommendations of the PE14 PARC Committee Reports.
"We encourage your consideration of earlier delegations presented this evening by Brantwood School Council, TCRA and ORLA."
The Oakville Beaver regrets the error and apologizes for any inconvenience it may have caused.
